FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the "screw stem" adaptors and the standard adaptors? (Universal and Leafield)
The colored "screw stem" adaptors allow the Hawkey Roberts valves locks to be depressed while pumping allowing for air to flow freely. Once the pump is removed, the airlock is re-engaged. These adaptors work with a pump with an internal check valve. All K-PUMPs made after 2023 come with an internal check valve. If your pump was purchased before 2023, you'll have to check your pump to confirm.
NOTE: These adaptors will work on K-PUMPs without a check valve if you remove the screw.
How do I know if my pump has an internal check valve?
The internal check valve is built into the pump during manufacturing. To determine if your pump has one, look into the nozzle opening of the pump. If it has a check valve, you will see a colored disc with black plastic spokes. If you don't see this, you do not have a pump with a check valve. NOTE: All K-PUMPs built 2023 or later contain an internal check valve.
